Community

PHD Access believes in the power of communities to drive positive change. Our commitment to community engagement goes beyond financial contributions; we actively participate in initiatives that empower and uplift the areas where we operate.

Food Donations

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the reliance on food banks surged dramatically. In response to this alarming trend, PHD Access initiated a food donation drive for Hillingdon Food Bank. Employees contributed various food items such as tinned fruit, soups, jam, spaghetti sauce, biscuits, as well as toiletries and household items. Collectively, we donated an impressive 57.7kg of essential items on our first food drive. Since then, we made it a quarterly social value goal to donate towards local food banks. By doing so, we continued to make a positive impact in our community and supported those in need.

British Firefighter Challenge UK

PHD proudly supports the British Firefighter Challenge, an annual sporting event designed to test the limits of firefighters, entertain spectators, and raise funds for the Firefighters Charity. When senior firefighter Mike Joseph reached out to PHD for assistance in 2019, we enthusiastically offered our support. The task involved transporting and erecting a 12-meter high, 12-ton tower structure, similar in appearance to a Layher staircase but distinct in its construction.

Demonstrating our commitment to the local firefighting community and their injured colleagues, PHD generously volunteered our time and equipment for this noble cause in 2019, 2022, and 2023, with the unfortunate cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hurst Lane Clean Up

PHD Access recently led a successful Community Clean Up Event at Hurst Lane, generating strong enthusiasm among local residents. The event aimed to enhance the road’s visual appeal and overall charm. Throughout the day, volunteers engaged in various activities, such as cleaning and painting road signage, installing anti-fly-tipping fencing in cleared areas, and repairing and painting concrete bollards.

These efforts, initiated in response to a resident’s suggestion, also included installing dark screening behind the tree line to obscure yard equipment, preserving the lane’s tranquil country ambiance.

SSAFA 13 Bridges Challenge

PHD proudly holds the silver award for the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme and annually marks Armed Forces Day on the 24th of June. Demonstrating our commitment to supporting military charities, in both 2022 and 2023, we participated in the SSAFA 13 Bridges Challenge, traversing thirteen of London’s iconic bridges from Tower Bridge to Battersea. The dedicated efforts of our team were evident as we completed the challenge in 4 hours and 13 minutes in 2022, improving our time to an impressive 3 hours and 48 minutes in 2023.

#WearRedForChildren

On the 14th of February 2022, we wholeheartedly joined the #WearRedforChildren initiative, standing in solidarity with The Lighthouse Club to raise awareness and funds for five remarkable children’s charities. This collective effort was aimed at making a meaningful impact on the lives of children in need. The funds raised through #WearRedforChildren were distributed among The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity Children’s Reserve’s chosen beneficiaries, aiding Crumlin Children’s Heart Centre, and contributing to Mercy University Hospital, Cork University Hospital, and the Make a Wish Foundation.

By participating in #WearRedforChildren, we contributed to a brighter and healthier future for these children and expressed our unwavering support for their well-being.

Tough Mudder, 2019

In 2019, the PHD Team completed the Tough Mudder, conquering 10 miles, tackling 25 obstacles, and finishing in an impressive 3 hours and 50 minutes! Their dedication paid off, and they raised £190 for the GOSH Charity.

British Down Syndrome Swimming Championship Sponsorship

For two consecutive years, PHD Access proudly supported the British Down Syndrome Swimming Championship through Powerday. As enthusiastic backers of Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain (DSS-GB), we are thrilled to contribute to an event that celebrates and showcases the remarkable achievements of athletes with Down syndrome from across the nation. Our ongoing support reflects our commitment to promoting inclusivity and recognizing the talents of individuals in the Down syndrome community.

Irish Community Services Christmas Hamper Delivery

In December 2020, PHD employees Ian and Natalie volunteered their time to deliver Christmas Hampers for the Irish Community Services (ICS). Initially formed by local individuals aiming to challenge negative stereotypes about the Irish prevalent in the 80s, ICS has evolved into one of the largest Irish organisations in the UK. Ian and Natalie’s involvement in delivering the Christmas Hampers aligns with the charity’s mission to foster a positive, affirmative image of the Irish community.

Partnering with London Irish Amateur RFC

In a significant development for the London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club, PHD Access has emerged as the principal club sponsor for the ongoing 2023/24 season and the forthcoming 2024/25 season.
