PROJECT OF THE YEAR WIN - NASC
PHD is delighted to be the winner of this year’s NASC Awards. We were up against some stiff competition for the Project of the Year (Large) Award, but it was our dedication to social value and sustainability that put the HMS Victory in Portsmouth project at the top of the judges’ list.
A massive well done to all our team who made this possible, to NMRN, and to our suppliers on the project.
Eric & Val – Bohunt School
A big congratulations to both Eric Martin and Val Barauskas for being awarded the Contractor of the Month Award at the Bohunt School Project for Wates Group. Both their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed and both continue to demonstrate hard work and a great attitude on site. Well done!

A huge congratulations to our site manager Jon B, who was awarded Wates Group Health, Safety and Wellbeing Award Certificate at our Shuttleworth Road project. “Jon has constantly raised health & safety improvements and worked alongside the site team to keep the standards high.”

Hat-trick win for PHD Access
PHD Access is ecstatic to have won the Access and Scaffolding Specialist category at the 2020 CN Specialist Awards. This is the third time in a row PHD has picked up this award, having won in 2018 and 2019. The award is the culmination of another outstanding year for PHD, which has seen continued growth and work both internally and on our projects. The judges said PHD had a “very thorough submission and met all the criteria. A very good pro-active approach in the pre-construction phase, and good use of social media to display mental health initiatives.”

Peter & Dean – AstraZeneca
Congratulations Peter and Dean who were highlighted for their outstanding contribution at the Health & Safety Awards with Mace Group at the AstraZeneca site. Peter picked up the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Leadership certificate, and Dean was shortlisted in the Operatives category.

H&S Champions – Great Eastern Quays
Galliford Try Partnerships awarded PHD the Health & Safety Champion 2019 certificate in their Supply Chain Awards for our works at the Great Eastern Quays site. It is a great feeling to be acknowledged for our health and safety priorities.

Apprenticeship Initiative Finalist
PHD are pleased to have reached the finalist stage for the Apprenticeship Initiative of the Year category at the CN Talent Awards 2019. PHD entered the Apprenticeship Initiative of the Year category after a successful year actively promoting and adapting the scheme to be better and more worthwhile for the apprentices. PHD created a new Apprenticeship Coordinator role, so each apprentice had a dedicated person to communicate with.

A huge congratulations to our apprentice, Abdi who was awarded ‘Best Exteriors Apprentice’ at the Berkeley Group Apprentice Awards 2019. The event itself provides a chance to celebrate great apprentices and to showcase the very best of the built environment sector. The award was presented by Alison Dowsett; Managing Director of St William.

Matt S – Stag House
Congratulations to Matt S, a scaffolder at our Stag House site, who has been selected as Wates Group’s Safety Award Winner this month. “Matt has consistently demonstrated a level of safety that goes above and beyond the norm. His can-do attitude, and positive approach to safety has been consistent throughout his time on the project. He is always keen to help and nothing ever seems to be too much of a problem for him to overcome.” Well done!

Double Winner – CN Specialist Awards 2019
PHD Modular Access Services is delighted to have won both the Access & Scaffolding Specialist of the Year and the Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor (subcontract between £1m to £3m) awards at last week’s Construction News (CN) Specialists Awards.

Congratulations to PHD’s Charlie R, who has been named ‘Sub-contractor – Manager of the Month’ by Lendlease. Charlie was selected by the Lendlease construction managers from over 100 black hats on the One the Elephant project.
