PHD’S Annual Company Seminar 2019

Published: Oct 21 2019

On Saturday 19th October, PHD held its annual seminar at Brunel University in Uxbridge for all employees. The seminar was the ideal opportunity to communicate our expected standards, operational goals and exciting strategies for the future.

This year’s seminar’s main emphasis was on Mental Health Awareness. Our mental health ambassador spoke about spotting the signs of someone struggling with their mental health, and we debuted our new video ‘Together, We Can Make A Huge Difference’, which features our staff across all sites and head office.

We also had the pleasure of The Comedy Contractor; John Ryan, join us. John Ryan is an award-winning comedian who also works in men’s mental health. By combining comedy with practical advice, John is living proof that laughter really is the best medicine. The feedback from the team said that he was a great addition to the day.

Over 120 of our scaffolders attended the seminar, which was a fantastic turnout and encouraged dialogue and learning throughout all parts of the business.

Olly Mansell, HSEQ Director, tested our teams with a light-hearted scaffolding and PHD trivia quiz (Winners won a day out at any London Irish game of their choice) before we held our annual awards.

The winners are as follows:

Manager Recognition of the Year. – Charlie Rogers (Elephant Park Project)

Apprentice of the Year.  – Reece Bellotti

Green Card Awards. – Peter Roughan

Health & Safety Recognition Awards. – Alan Houlican (London) & Mark Betts (Green Park, Reading)

Trivia Quiz Winners. – We had a tie with 2 teams (names too rude to post!)

The seminar finished with a delicious BBQ and an opportunity to socialise and speak to the management team. All-in-all day was a tremendous success, forwarding PHD’s mission to promote safety in the workplace.
