WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To apply for our Graduate Programme, you have:

  • A minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (expected or obtained)
  • Relevant work experience that demonstrates an interest in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

OUR GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

We currently offer two Graduate Programme schemes; Graduate Project Manager and Graduate Quantity Surveyor. Each programme lasts two years and you are given a guaranteed interview at the end for a Project Manager or Quantity Surveyor role within PHD.

Graduate Project Manager

As a Project Manager, you will supervise and organise daily work on site. You will learn to control and manage all operations, including progress, planning, labour relations, and cost planning. You’ll get to team up with other professionals such as sub-contractors, consultants and client’s representatives in order to make sure that the job is completed within budget and on time.

Your duties include, but not be limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day logistics onsite
  • Supervising and coordinating staff, Sub-Contractors and material suppliers to ensure an efficient method of build to the required build quality and build programme
  • Managing the day-to-day health and safety
  • Direct liaison with Client, Technical and Commercial departments ensuring that up-to-date records of all site activities are retained, thereby achieving cost/quality control; and report on the same to project manager /Construction Director
  • Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage staff to ensure staff are fully motivated to achieve best performance to meet the company’s needs
  • Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change
  • Managing lifting operations, heavy plant movements
  • To comply with the complying policy and procedures
  • Effective daily use of appropriate company information systems and databases
  • At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate would have a BSc or equivalent in construction management or civil engineering
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid (3-day course min) is preferable but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of current Microsoft software
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Team player
  • Good negotiating skills

 

Graduate Quantity Surveyor

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work to ensure that the optimum commercial return is achieved for the project. You will learn to provide the most cost-effective plans that meet high-quality standards of both the company and client.

Your duties include, but not be limited to:

  • Preparing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Providing and monitoring cash flow projections and commercial information for monthly reports
  • Complying with monthly reporting cycle.

Requirements:

  • BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid (3-day course min)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of current Microsoft software
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Team player
  • Good negotiating skills
