Career Fair

Published: Oct 12 2022

On the 12th of October 2022, a few members of PHD Access took the time to attend a careers fair at the Joan of Arc Catholic School in Rickmansworth to talk to the students about construction and about the opportunities within the industry.

The Fair

We had plenty of resources on hand for the day, but something the students enjoyed the most was playing our very own VR game. The VR game allowed the students to experience what it is really like working at heights, challenging them to identify and correct 5 health and safety risks as they walk around the scaffolding, all whilst being timed!

We also had some of our own apprentices take a day off from site to come down and educate some of the students as to what their average day looks like, and demonstrate how to use the harnesses as well as the other PPE we had brought down.

Overall the day was a success, after talking to us, many of the students who had initially said that the industry was not for them were quite excited at the idea of working in construction and making a career for themselves.

Become a scaffolder

If you or someone you know is interested in a career in the construction industry, PHD offer a two-year paid apprenticeship scheme for anyone over 16 years. The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to learn terminology, familiarise yourself with equipment and gain onsite knowledge, along with attaining an NVQ Level 2 in Scaffolding, Accessing Operations and Rigging.
